In this section, we look at Risk Assessing in the Workplace, beginning with the Accident Triangle, and why everyday prevention is important, before moving on to the 5 stages of Risk Assessment, how we assess risk, the Hierarchy of Control, and exactly what a hazard is.

In this section, we look at how accidents can be prevented, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the employer and employee duties under COSHH. You will learn about the use of portable gas appliances and safety signs as well as why the correct lighting in the workplace is essential in accident prevention. Finally, we look at Permits to Work and Workplace Exposure Limits for hazardous substances.

Accidents can happen at any time, the correct Health and Safety Training ensures everybody knows the correct procedures to follow. This includes having the right first aid provision, training, and equipment, in some organisation, this may even be a dedicated first aid room. Everybody should know what to do when an accident happens, the workplace policies and procedures, and RIDDOR and accident reporting procedures. We will look at equipment in the workplace and the accidents that may occur, and emergency procedures.

This section looks in greater detail at a number of specific areas of Health and Safety, including Fire Safety Awareness, Electrical Hazards, Manual Handling, and Workstation and VDU Safety. You will learn about different kinds of machinery and equipment, as well as topics such as managing stress and legionnaire's disease.

This final section looks at how you take your online test, the open response test, your Zoom meeting and how you get your completion certificate, evidenced-based learning statement and Certified CPD statement.
